Das Kernkraftwerk Biblis " KWB " am Rhein nahe der Einmündung der Weschnitz in Hessen besteht aus zwei nahezu baugleichen Druckwasserreaktoren, Block A und B, und war der Gesamtleistung nach das zweitertragreichste Kernkraftwerk in Deutschland. Betrieben wurde es seit Mitte der 70er Jahre von der RWE Power AG (bis 1990 Rheinisch-Westfälisches Elektrizitätswerk AG), einem der größten Energieversorgungskonzerne mit Hauptsitz in Essen. Nach der angeordneten dreimonatigen Abschaltung im März 2011 aufgrund der Fukushima-Katastrophe wurde das Kernkraftwerk durch die Bundesnetzagentur am 31. August 2011 endgültig stillgelegt. Nuclear power station in Biblis at Rhine in Hesse consists of two press water reactors, block A and B, and had the second biggest production in Germany. It was operated from electric company RWE Power AG since mid-1970s. After the ordered three months cutoff because of the Fukushima disaster in March 2011, the power station is now finally decommissioned since 31. August 2011.
