The monastery of Reichenau was a Benedictine monastery on the island of Reichenau in Lake Constance. It was founded in 724 and was bishop from 1540 Priory of Constance. The monastery is one of the most important monasteries of the Carolingian period. In 1803 the monastery was disbanded. The illuminated manuscripts of the monastery was taken in 2003 in the World list of World Cultural Organization UNESCO
